Marek Gabor (Jungle Healing founder & owner)

Marek Gabor, lovingly known as Jungle Man, is an intuitive and experienced practitioner of the healing art of Thai Yoga Massage. One of the few authorised teachers of The Sunshine Network in the UK, Marek has trained extensively in Lahu Village in Chiang Mai, Thailand, with numerous international Thai masters over the years.

Marek offers deeply healing treatments and trains therapists in accredited courses internationally as well as offering bespoke courses specialising in particular practices. Marek is renowned for his adaptive and responsive style, passion and authenticity.

As part of his therapies and trainings he offers private Hatha yoga Sivananda style classes.

“Yoga has many different forms aside from being physical exercise. My path started out as a spiritual one and very much continues to be so in my life’s journey. Yoga happens on the physical, mental and spiritual plane and Yoga opened up on the physical level for me when I was in my teens. It is fair to say that my yoga ‘explosion’ happened when I was even younger, when I met my first Yoga Guru at the age of three in the Himalayas on the bank of the river Ganges. 

I have since been practicing yoga for more than 25 years. I have been teaching different forms of Yoga since I was thirteen years old and as I grew older and met more masters, I learned more practices, including Tantra, Astrology, Crystal Healing, Meditation, Ayurveda, Nada Yoga, Kirtan, Kriyas, Mudras, Karma Kanda, Trataka, Kundalini Yoga, Tapasaya, philosophy, pranayama, amongst a few practices, and eventually started teaching Bhakti Yoga – Yoga of Devotion, Karma Yoga – Yoga of Action and Jnana Yoga – Yoga of Wisdom. I moved to China three years ago and taught Hatha Yoga there and then eventually returned to the UK where I grew up.

I have travelled to the Himalayas and other places in India, working closely with Yogis who practice in solitude as well as non-institutional organisations. Today, I am still closely connected to many Yoga Gurus who continue to encourage me to teach yoga and meditation. I also spend my time teaching or researching, since I am a historian in Art, Archaeology and History of Ancient and Medieval South Asia.

Students love my classes for their alignment, depth of relaxation, interesting stories from the Yogic traditions and all the hints that a mystic has to share. As I am joined to many ancient and traditional lineages I can share a wide range of Yoga practices and the many perspectives that they have to offer, but at the same time, providing a clear workout where clients can gain a complete yogic experience. My clients often say that they feel my approach to yoga is authentic and traditional. They say it is easy to understand.

I am passionate about helping people understand the benefits of yoga. Different people come with different queries and I am more than happy to share what I have learnt or refer them to other teachers if necessary.”

“I am a busy mum of two and live with my family in Crawley. I have been practicing Pilates for over 15 years and in 2016 qualified as a Level 3 Mat Pilates Instructor. In June 2017 I became a qualified POP Pilates instructor. I am currently in the process of doing further advanced Pilates instructor courses with Body Control Pilates in London in order to achieve a Level 4 Pilates Instructor qualification which is the highest level of achievement in Pilates qualifications in the UK.

My background in clinical massage and knowledge of the human body is reflected in my Pilates classes. I teach clients the main principles of Pilates and correct techniques of individual exercises, tailoring the exercises specifically to clients’ needs at the time of the class and also gently help to correct clients into safe exercise techniques. 

I am a fully insured member of REPs (Register of Exercise Professionals) and holder of an up to date Emergency First Aid at Work certificate. As well as teaching private and corporate clients and Pilates classes at Jungle Healing Studio, I also teach classes at the Hawth Theatre, LOOSEYoga, Acorns gym and POP Pilates classes at Bridgeham Clinic.”

“I have been practising yoga for the past 9 years. A few years ago I trained in India as a multi style teacher because I believe yoga is for everyone and should be accessible. I extended my knowledge by training in pregnancy and postnatal yoga as I want to create a safe space for women when they are going through the most magical but challenging time.

My classes are a hybrid of traditional techniques, which are usually lost in the western world, alongside modern yoga styles. That being said my classes are a fun combination of asana (poses), breathing, movement to music and relaxation.
